Privacy policy
Short version: we collect the least we can get away with, we never sell it, we never give it to a college, and one email gets it deleted.

Who we are
Mapank Consultancy Solutions ("Mapank", "we", "us"), a sole proprietorship of Kapil Saxena, operates mapank.in and provides counselling and admission guidance to students preparing for JEE and NEET.

What we collect, and only when you ask us to
Using the site and the tools
You can read every page and use the Prep-o-meter, the College Explorer and the Exam Finder without telling us anything at all. There is no account and no password.
The ratings you enter into the Prep-o-meter are saved in your own browser so the tool remembers them next visit. They are not sent to us and we cannot see them. Clearing your browser data removes them.
If you ask for a report by email
When you click to have an analysis emailed to you, we receive and store:
- Contact details — your name, email address, and a phone number if you choose to give one, which is optional.
- Context — whether you are a student or a parent, which exam you are preparing for, your target year, and which page you asked from. If a parent signs up, the student's first name only.
- The analysis itself. This is the part worth reading twice. It is a snapshot of what you entered into the tool: your self-rated score, how you rated each subject and chapter, which chapters you rated lowest, and the rank you set as a target — or, from the College Explorer, the rank and filters you searched with and the shortlist that produced.
- The consent you gave — the exact wording you agreed to, and when.
- A copy of the PDF we sent you.
We keep the analysis so we can send the report again if it goes astray, and so that a conversation with you later starts from what you actually told us rather than from nothing.
Website analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page visits without cookies and without building a profile of individual visitors. It does not follow you to other websites. We chose it over the more common alternatives precisely because most of our visitors are school students.
What we never ask for
We will never ask for your login credentials for any examination or counselling portal — not NTA, not JoSAA, not MCC, not a state authority. Nobody legitimate will. If anyone claiming to be us asks, they are not us.
What we do with it
We use what you give us to send you the report you asked for, to reply to you, to send occasional email about JEE and NEET counselling if you asked for that, and to keep the tools working. That is the complete list.
What we will not do
- We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. Not to anyone, at any price.
- We do not pass your details to colleges, universities, coaching institutes or admission consultants — including those who offer to pay for exactly this.
- We do not run behavioural advertising, and we do not build advertising or tracking profiles of students.
- We do not dress advertising up as advice.
This is not only a promise about conduct. It is how the business is built: our only customer is the student, and a referral fee from a college would make the advice worthless.
Where your data is kept, and who else touches it
We use a small number of established providers. They process data on our instructions and cannot use it for their own purposes.
- Supabase — the database and file storage holding signups, analyses and report PDFs. Our project is hosted in the Mumbai region, so this data sits in India.
- Brevo — sends our email. To send you a message it necessarily receives your name and email address. Brevo is a European company and processes this outside India.
- Render — serves the website itself. It handles no personal data beyond ordinary web request logs.
- Cloudflare — delivers the site and provides the cookie-free analytics described above.
We share data with nobody else, except where the law obliges us to.
How long we keep it
- Contact details — until you ask to come off the list. Then removed.
- The analysis and the report PDF — up to 24 months, which covers an exam cycle, the counselling that follows, and a repeat attempt. After that we delete it. If you want it gone sooner, ask and it goes.
- Anything tied to a payment — for as long as tax and accounting law requires, once we begin taking payments.
Where we can delete rather than archive, we delete.
Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can:
- See what we hold about you, and how it has been used.
- Correct anything that is wrong, incomplete or out of date.
- Delete it, unless we are required by law to keep it.
- Withdraw consent you gave earlier, as easily as you gave it.
- Nominate someone to exercise these rights for you if you are unable to.
- Complain to us, and then to the Data Protection Board of India if we have not sorted it out.
Email mapank.care@gmail.com. There is no charge, you do not need to give a reason, and we will not try to talk you out of it. We aim to respond within seven days.
To come off our mailing list, use the unsubscribe link at the foot of any email we send, or see the unsubscribe page. If you want the analysis behind your report deleted as well, say so in the same message and we will delete that too.
Age
Our sign-up form asks you to confirm you are 18 or over. We record that confirmation, and we do not verify it.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe we hold data about your child that you did not agree to, write to mapank.care@gmail.com and we will delete it — the contact details, the analysis and the stored PDF — without asking you to justify the request.
Security
The most effective protection available to a small organisation is holding very little, so we hold very little. Beyond that: the database is configured so that the key published in our website cannot read a single record back, report PDFs sit in private storage rather than on a public URL, and the credentials that can read data are held on the server and never sent to your browser.
No system is perfectly secure and we will not pretend otherwise. If something goes wrong that affects you, we will tell you and tell the Data Protection Board, as the law requires.

We will acknowledge within seven days and resolve it within thirty. If you are still not satisfied, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Changes
If we change this policy we will change the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use your data, we will say so plainly rather than quietly — and where the law requires fresh consent, we will ask for it rather than assume it.
